The Waiting Walk
Diary Entry Eight: Goodbye IUI, Hello IVF
This week on The Waiting Walk, I’m stepping into my final round of IUI—the third and final one required by our insurance before IVF becomes an option. I’m sharing where I am in the process, what this round looks like, and how I’m holding hope. Plus, you’ll hear from other women walking their own paths—whether through IUI, IVF, or somewhere in between. Every walk is different. Every walk matters.
Until next time-breathe, walk gently, and hold onto hope.
Hey, welcome back to the waiting walk, my IUI journey, and maybe yours too. Today I'm sharing where I am in real time because this part of the journey is big. I'm stepping into my final round of IUI. And honestly, the word final feels a little lighter this time. Not because I know the outcome, but because if it doesn't work, we step into a brand new walk. One that gives me even more hope. IVF. Yesterday was day three of my cycle. I had another round of blood work and an ultrasound. I also started my hormone medication. Three pills once a day for five days. I go back to the doctor next Friday for follow-up blood work and another ultrasound to check how my body responded to the meds. Specifically, how my follicles are doing. Then we wait for a call. That call will tell us if we're good to go. If we are, we will do what we need to do next, which is the trigger shot. And in the days that follow, it'll be time for implantation with my husband's collection. So here I am, walking, waiting, hoping. And just like always, I'm sharing it with you. Also, this week, I won't be the only one sharing. You'll hear the voices of other women, each with their own waiting walk. They remind us that no two walks look the same, but every one of them is strong, brave, and worthy of honor. Until next time, breathe, walk gently, and hold on to hope. This is the waiting walk.
